For the parents of a child struggling with infertility.

Father,

I am watching my child hurt, and I cannot fix it.

When my child was little, I could pick them up.

I could kiss the scraped knee.

I could stay beside the bed when they were sick.

But I cannot fix this.

I watch another month pass.

I watch hope rise and fall.

I watch pregnancy announcements bring genuine happiness for someone else and private heartbreak at the same time.

And I ache for my child.

Lord, I want to be a grandparent—but even more than that, I want my child not to hurt anymore.

So I place this longing before You.

Please give my child and their spouse the gift of a child, if it is Your will.

Heal what needs healing.

Guide their doctors.

Strengthen their marriage.

Protect them from bitterness, shame, isolation, and despair.

If conception is possible, Lord, please make a way.

If their child will come through adoption, begin arranging the providential details even now.

Blessed Fulton Sheen, intercede for them.

Our Lady of Guadalupe, place my child beneath your mantle.

Holy Family, live within their home.

And Lord, when I am tempted to say too much, give me wisdom.

When there are no words, teach me simply to love.

I cannot carry this cross for my child.

But I can stand beside them beneath it.

Help me do that well.

Amen.
