Lord Jesus, with confidence in Your goodness and surrender to Your perfect will, we place Ashley and Tommy before You. You know the depth of their love for one another and the years they have longed to share that love with a child. You have seen every appointment, every treatment undertaken in faithfulness to You, every surgery, every disappointment, every hopeful beginning, every tear no one else saw, and now these long years of waiting for an adoption match. Nothing about their suffering has been hidden from You.
Lord, we ask You boldly for a miracle. If it is Your will, grant Ashley and Tommy the gift of conceiving a child. You are the Author of life, and nothing is impossible for You. If this is the miracle You desire for them, bring healing where healing is needed and allow new life to begin.
And if the child You have chosen for their family will come through adoption, Lord, please make the way clear. Somewhere there may be a woman who will face one of the most difficult decisions of her life. Surround her with love, protection, good counsel, and people who will honor her dignity and freedom. Bless the child’s father as well. Give both parents wisdom, courage, peace, and every help they need. If they discern that adoption is best for their child, guide them toward the family You have prepared—not through pressure or fear, but through freedom, truth, and love.
And Lord, if that family is Ashley and Tommy, bring them together in Your time.
Protect the little one for whom we pray. Perhaps that child has not yet been conceived. Perhaps a tiny heart is already beating beneath a mother’s heart. Perhaps the child is already somewhere in this world. We do not know. But You do. You know that child by name before we ever could. You know every hair, every fingerprint, every gift, every struggle, every laugh, and every day of that precious life.
Blessed Fulton Sheen, faithful servant of Christ and lover of Jesus in the Holy Eucharist, we ask your intercession for Ashley and Tommy. You spent countless hours before Our Lord in your daily Holy Hour and taught the world the dignity and sacredness of human life. Carry this petition before Jesus. We ask especially for a miracle through your intercession: either the gift of conception or the long-awaited adoption match, according to God’s holy will. May any favor granted give glory to God and help draw souls to Christ.
Our Lady of Guadalupe, Mother of the unborn and mother to all who seek refuge beneath your mantle, cover Ashley and Tommy with your maternal love. Cover the child for whom they wait. Cover the woman who may carry that child. Protect every life involved in this story and lead them all closer to your Son.
St. Joseph, you became a father through a path you never could have planned. Jesus was not born of your body, yet God truly entrusted His Son to your fatherly protection. Stay especially close to Tommy. Teach him your quiet strength, courage, tenderness, fidelity, and complete trust in Providence.
Blessed Mother, stay especially close to Ashley. You know the mysterious depths of a mother’s heart. When her arms ache to hold the child she has waited so long to love, wrap those empty arms beneath your mantle and hold her close to Jesus.
Holy Family, protect Ashley and Tommy’s marriage during this long waiting. Let infertility and adoption waiting never become stronger than the covenant that made them a family before a child ever enters their home. Keep them fiercely devoted to one another, tender toward one another’s wounds, patient when they grieve differently, and united in faith, hope, and love.
Jesus, we are asking for something enormous because You taught us to ask. We ask for the baby. We ask for the phone call. We ask for the match. We ask for the positive pregnancy test. We ask for tiny fingers wrapped around theirs, a child asleep against their chests, Baptism at the font, bedtime prayers, first steps, ordinary family dinners, scraped knees, laughter, exhaustion, and all the hidden sacrifices of motherhood and fatherhood.
We ask for the day when this long waiting finally gives way to the words, “Our child is coming home.”
But above every request, we ask for Your will. Not because what they desire matters little, but because we trust that You love Ashley, Tommy, and the child for whom they pray even more perfectly than we can.
Until the answer comes, Lord, make their waiting fruitful. Receive every tear, every disappointment, every act of fidelity, every hidden sacrifice, every prayer, and every heartbeat as an offering.
Jesus, Mary, and Joseph, remain with them.
